So my BFF tipped me off to an amazing new website called Lifebooker. It’s basically like Orbitz for Spa/Salon services, but the only drawback is that it’s only available for New York and Los Angeles…right now.
On Lifebooker you can search, browse, and book appointments at some of the top beauty spots in your city all from the convenience of your computer. No more having to whisper “Bikini Wax” and “Brazilian” from the confines of your office cubicle! But the real reason they caught my eye is becuase they negotiate exclusive deals with top salon’s like Rita Hazan and Cristiano Cora in Manhattan, then pass on those discounts to you by offering appointments at dramatically discounted prices! I was able to get a $180 haircut for just $90 at a top salon …on a Saturday!
The site is very user-friendly and you can search for countless services including: lash extensions, acupunture, facials, hair color and the ever popular, mani/pedi!
Let’s hope they decide to expand their list of cities becasue I could totally use something like this in my life!
I love browsing through the beauty isles of my local Wal-Mart for the best deals in cosmetics. The make-up is much cheaper and if you know what to buy, it works just as good, if not better, than the pricey department store stuff. And in our current economic environment, I can’t justify my usual level of retail therapy anymore…so next time you feel the urge to spend, spend, spend, why not try a new lip gloss or eye shadow instead?
Here are a few items you might find in my make-up bag all priced under $8:
Because of a major lawsuit filed against department stores in California in 2003, stores like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s are being forced to give away $175 million worth of beauty products nationwide, for free, to anybody who walks into their stores. Shoppers only get one item per cosmetic company, while supplies last.
And this isn’t the cheap stuff either…think Chanel, Christian Dior, Clarins, Lancome, etc. Participating stores include:
Saks Fifth Avenue
…and many more so click here for complete details on what freebies you can expect to score! And here’s the legal filing for those of you that are into “rules”.
Leave it to Cameron to inject some much needed color and add an element of risk to the red carpet. Does anyone know if she still works with Rachel Zoe? Or did she put this together herself? Either way, she looks fantabulous in this Chanel dress and she’s sporting one of my picks for the hottest trends of Spring 2009: Asymetrical.
I totally love this shade of Barbie pink on her and the girl knows how to pick a silhouette that perfectly complements her body. Her tanned and toned shoulders/arms are the focus and rightfully so…how do I get my arms to look like that??? And while this look isn’t for everyone, I love that it’s different, modern and de-constructed. There’s something really fresh about it that was missing from many of tonight’s looks.
Her hair and make-up team also deserve a huge thank you tonight…her bold red lips perfectly complement her dress without overpowering it. I think it was a great color choice and it makes the whole look seem more grown up.
I also love her hair this color and the longer length is a much needed update. She usually has it much shorter and choppier, so I’m happy to see it styled down and in soft waves. I’m guessing the new long locks are thanks to some very expensive extensions, but if I were her, I would totally keep them!
This time of year, I always find something super stylish and chic about this look. I see tons of celebs looking oh-so-fabulous with their new fringe, but each winter I ask myself the same question…Do I want bangs? Do I like them? Will they flatter my face? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tempted to reach for a pair of scissors and just cut them myself…but after much pleading from my hairdresser, I will try my best to resist the urge!
I think bangs can be an easy and cheap way to update your entire look, but if you’re going to get them, Fall/Winter is the only time of year you can actually wear them. They’re just too heavy for the summer and I can’t imagine that having hair on your face in the scorching July heat can feel good or be good for your skin.
I really love this look on Reese and anything looks good on Kate Moss, but some celebs like Mischa and Kim just can’t get away with it, and my fear is that I’ll fall into that later category. I think bangs can make you look like a 5 year old, or worse, older… and that’s never a good thing in Hollywood or anywhere for that matter. But I did find a great guide to help you determine which type of bangs will work best for your face shape!
Since my New Year’s resolution was to be less conservative and less controlling, I think I’ll give Ted (my hair dresser) carte blanche next time I see him and leave it up to him to decide if bangs really are for me!
I thought Lauren looked allright at The Hills finale… the sparkly Phillip Lim dress was cute, but a tad on the unoriginal side and she should have added a pop of color with her shoes instead of just going the match-matchy route. But what did standout was her beautiful hair “do”! I love the faux-bob she was rockin’ and if you’re looking for something festive and fun to try out this New Year’s Eve, why not go for this ultra-chic style?!?!
