Holiday Dress-ing under $90

With the holidays right around the corner and Christmas music already playing in Starbucks, the always looming “what do I wear to all of these parties” question is hounding most of us.

For this holiday season, buck the standard metallic and sequins head- to- toe trends and dare to be different…you don’t want to look like everyone else do you??? Here are my three picks (in order from most to least expensive) to help you stand out from the crowd and celebrate the holidays in high-style.

Embellished Backless Shift Dress $90

1. Grown Up Embellishments

I totally get that for some people a holiday dress isn’t a holiday dress without a little sparkle and shine…but sequins aren’t the only way to achieve that. Try bold embellishments in unexpected colors and patterns to achieve a more grown up and stylish version of your standard sequin look. The silhouette of this dress is also the perfect combo of sexy and sophisticated so you can wear it anywhere from an office holiday party to a chic New Year’s event and still feel appropriate and more importantly, gorgeous.

2. Celebrate Separates

Short Prom Skirt $65 Sequin Tank $10

Short Prom Skirt $65 Sequin Tank $10

There’s no rule that says you have to wear a dress to a holiday party so this season, why not try a skirt and shirt combo? I particularly like the full skirts I’m starting to see in stores. Pick one in a luxurious fabric like silk or tafetta to add just a hint of shine and some elegance to your look. You could also try a full skirt in a print or even a brocade fabric to add more drama and give your outfit a more dressed up feeling. If you’re going to do something big or decorative on the bottom, opt for a sleek tank or cami with just a hint of shine to complement, not compete with the skirt. And as a bonus with separates, you can easily incorporate them into your wardrobe and wear them individually after the Holiday season is over!

3. Textured Tuxedo

Instead of just another boring, black dress, try a Tuxedo inspired look…because nothing says chic like classic Black and White. This color combination gets a modern and sexy update in this fabulous bandage dress. I love this look because the Black and White not only make it a perfect party dress, but the strategic placement of the color (black) on the outside helps create the illusion of an hourglass figure and in turn, a much smaller you! The beautiful pleating down the center of the dress also make it look much more expensive than it actually was. And in terms of wear-ability, this dress can definitely go the distance!

So this holiday season, have fun with fashion and try something that’s uniquely you! And as you can see, at an average cost of $50 anyone of these dresses will do!
