If you live on the East Coast or anywhere cold for that matter, you know that you can’t make it through the coldest winter months without a Puffy Parka. The bad news is that most of the parkas out there make you look like Stay Puft from Ghostbusters, but the good news is there are now a few designers out there that get it right when it comes to the tailoring and details.
The best Puffy Parka’s are hands down from the House of Moncler. The Italian company was founded in 1952 with the aid of renowned mountain climbers that developed the signature Moncler material which helps protect against the harshest of elements. Since then, the company has supplied jackets for the French Winter Olympic Teams, been spotted all over Europe’s most elite resorts and on many fashion runways. In 2007, the company also launched the Moncler Gamme Rouge collection under the creative guidance of fashion genius, Giambattista Valli.
Unfortunately, most of their jackets retail from $598 to $2000. But no need to fear…I did my research and found a suitable alternative from DKNY that has a similar look and cut. And by simply adding a black elastic belt, you can create that sinched in waist that’s essential when wearing these puffy coats.
